Cill Churnain - The Church of Curnan.
The village of Kilcornan is located on the N.69 road, about halfway between Kildimo and Askeaton. The village was and is alternatively known as Stonehall. The Celtic Theme Park and Gardens are signposted off the main road opposite the Catholic Church. The park and gardens feature exhibits of some of the built Heritage of Ancient Ireland where physical structures such as a Ring Fort, a Stone Circle, a Mass Rock and a Dolmen help to interpret Ireland's past. The classic style garden which lies adjacent affords the visitor a panoramic view of the surrounding countryside.
Nearby Curraghchase is now a State Forest Park with nature trails, forest walks, picnic area, lake and attractive arboretum. Curraghchase House was the Country Residence of the De Vere Family built in the late 17th Century and home to Aubery De Vere (1814 - 1902) the Poet and Author. The house was destroyed by fire in December 1941.
Stonehall Visitor Farm is located along a side road on the perimeter of Curraghchase. Guided tours, nature trails, picnic areas, pets corner, rare breeds, tea rooms, parking and disabled access.
Beside Kilcornan Village Inn is Kilcornan Leisure Karting Centre. An annual Fair at Stonehall is held locally in June.
