Gleann an Air - The Glen of The Slaughter.
The name Glenenaar was made famous in the early 20th Century when Canon Sheehan published a book "Glenenaar". A mass rock hidden in the picturesque Glen is a reminder of the Penal Times when Catholic Priests were forbidden to say Mass, but defied the Laws by celebrating in 'hidden' areas. A huge stone named Carraig Oisin is associated with the legendary Fionn MacChumhail and Tir na nOg (The Land of Eternal Youth).
