Drom Caoin - The Pleasant Ridge.
On the N.24 Limerick - Tipperary Road, 18 km Southeast of Limerick, Dromkeen village is located along the Limerick Junction - Limerick rail line. During the 1950's, the Oyster Ballroom in Dromkeen, was one of the most popular 'Ballrooms of Romance' in provincial Ireland. Dromkeen Catholic Church, 1.5 km along the Kilteely Road past the Post Office, in the Parish of Dromkeen and Kilteely, is a plain but attractive Church with an interesting modern metal sculpture with the inscription : 'Erected in the Jubilee Year 2000 by the people of Dromkeen bearing the original bell of the Church. The all-seeing eye of God and all people in the embrace of the Trinity'. The sculpture stands as high as the Church itself and depicts an eye and three embracing arms, with the old bell fixed to the central structure.
