Croch or Cruagh - A Round Stack or Hill.
A small village just off the new N.21 road, Croagh has some interesting ruins of an early 12th Century Abbey of the Canons Regular of St. Augustine. The ruins consist of a nave, chancel with transepts and a tower. A local development group have completed a village park project (1999) beside Marian Shrine Carnegie Library (1903) which has also been restored. The Catholic Church, modern and attractive, is the Parish Church of Croagh and Kilfinny.
